Adelè Rossetti (PiV ‘92–‘94) is exhibiting a proposal poster for an environmental art installation in Rio at the Fulbright 75 Virtual Art Exhibition. She was the 2016 Fulbright U.S. Scholar to Brazil.
Adele Rossetti Morosini's proposal for an art installation visualizes what the bloom of the endemic and endangered Cattleya lobata orchids may look like if they were reintroduced to Rio de Janeiro's iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain, part of its natural habitat. The biodegradable pink tissue paper and flour glue markers, made by school children and installed by climbing club members, represent the flowers by their color and location, advocating for their reintroduction.
The Fulbright 75 Exhibition is celebrating 75 years of the Fulbright Program’s impact in the arts.
Adelè is an artist and art instructor working in the NYC area and the Hudson Valley. She is also a lecturer, published art and scientific illustrator, private art tutor, and exhibiting artist. She has a MFA degree in Painting/Drawing and a MS in the Theory, Criticism and History of Art, Design and Architecture from Pratt Institute. She is a fellow of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium Society, and a recipient of the American Society of Botanical Artists’ Excellence Award, the Royal Horticultural Society’s Grenfells Science Medal, and several Mellon Foundation, Cantor-Fitzgerald Foundation, Fulbright, and Pratt Institute grants. Her artwork is found in numerous collections in the US and abroad, including the Alisa and Isaac Sutton Collection, the most important American private collection of Botanical Art, and that of Natasha Trethewey, the U.S. Poet Laureate.
