Alumna Spotlight: Annalise Welte ('13)
We are very happy to kick off our Alumni/ae Spotlight Series with Annalise Welte, who participated in the 2013 program !
Where are you now?
I am currently Senior Library Associate, Circulation and Technical Services at the Thomas J. Watson Library in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In this position I am lucky to work in many different areas; I help patrons at the circulation desk, assist with serials management, interlibrary loans and more.
What is your favorite PiV memory?
One of my favorite Pratt in Venice memories was my first visit to San Lazzaro degli Armeni. The Armenian Biennale Pavilion is hosted on this island in a monastery established by Armenian monks in the 18th century and I had never heard anything about it before. I ended up doing my research project as well as my thesis on the printing press of the Armenian monks and the role they played in Armenian book production.
How did PiV influence where you are now, if at all?
Pratt in Venice definitely had an impact on my career path. In my current position I've been able to research relevant books in the collection at Watson Library and to participate in developing our collection of Armenian titles. My studies through Pratt in Venice created a wonderful foundation for these interests as well as the opportunity to study them first hand.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I could go on and on about how amazing Pratt in Venice is!
